The Mattlock Duo, featuring soprano Jenny Matteucci and pianist Daniel Lockert, is a dynamic husband-and-wife team celebrated for their captivating performances across the San Francisco Bay Area and beyond will perform a cabaret show in the Redwood room at 12:00 on February 12. Together, they bring a heartfelt passion and exceptional artistry to a wide range of musical styles, from cabaret to classical, earning them a reputation for musical excellence and emotional resonance.
Jenny Matteucci, renowned for her flexibility of style, has established herself as a versatile performer, director, and conductor. After relocating from Davis, California, to San Francisco to study at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, she quickly became a prominent figure in the Bay Area theater and cabaret scene. Beyond the stage, Jenny collaborates with her husband Daniel in their cabaret show, For the Love of…, and starred in the Craig Bohmler/Marc Jacobs musical All the More to Love, inspired by the consignment shop she co-owned with her mother. As a conductor, she leads ensembles such as Rossmoor’s Ashmolean Singers, Mendocino Music Festival Chorus, The Congregational Concert Chorale, and two additional choirs. She served as a faculty member at Santa Clara University and Notre Dame de Namur University and maintains a private voice studio.
Daniel Lockert, equally accomplished as a pianist, organist, and harpsichordist, has enjoyed a career that spans the globe. A native of San Diego, he began piano studies at the age of five and pursued advanced training in Accompanying at the University of Southern California under the legendary Gwendolyn Koldolfsky. His exceptional talent earned him recognition as the only American finalist at the International Accompanying Competition in the Netherlands.
Daniel’s collaborations include performances with Metropolitan Opera singers such as Deborah Voigt and Brenda Boozer, as well as chamber music partnerships with ensembles like the Alexander String Quartet. His theater work includes serving as music director for productions like Into the Woods, Company, and The Light in the Piazza. He has also performed and directed numerous cabaret shows, showcasing his artistry and sensitivity as an accompanist.
As educators, Jenny and Daniel frequently lead masterclasses for organizations like the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS), Lamplighters and the Mendocino Music Festival, inspiring students with their expertise.
Together, as the Mattlock Duo, Jenny and Daniel blend their remarkable talents to create unforgettable performances that celebrate the joy and beauty of music.
